Questions
- What is Keenable?
- Keenable is a web search engine built for AI agents. It gives agents two tools, web search and page fetch (a page as clean markdown), through a hosted MCP server, a REST API, SDKs and the integrations on this page.
- Does Keenable work with the Vercel AI SDK?
- Yes. Install @keenable/ai-sdk and pass keenableTools() to generateText or streamText. The model gets keenable_search and keenable_fetch, no API key needed. Keenable is also on Vercel Connect, which keeps the key out of environment variables.
- How do I add Keenable to Cursor, VS Code or Claude?
- Cursor and VS Code install it in one click from this page. Claude lists Keenable Web Search in its Connectors Directory. Claude Code adds it with "claude mcp add --transport http keenable https://api.keenable.ai/mcp". ChatGPT and Codex install it from OpenAI's Plugins Directory.
- Do I need an API key?
- No, not to start. The hosted MCP server and most integrations work without a key on a rate-limited public tier. A free Keenable API key lifts the limits, and the same key works across every integration.
- Which agent frameworks does Keenable support?
- LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Agno, Haystack, Mastra, Google ADK, NVIDIA NeMo Agent Toolkit, PraisonAI and the Vercel AI SDK, plus workflow builders such as n8n, Dify, Langflow and Convex.
- How can my coding agent set Keenable up by itself?
- Send it this prompt: "Read https://app.keenable.ai/SKILL.md and install this skill." The skill teaches the agent when to search, when to fetch a page, and how to call the API.
- My tool is not listed. Can I still use Keenable?
- Yes, if it speaks MCP: point it at https://api.keenable.ai/mcp. Zed, Warp, Kiro, Gemini CLI and v0 connect this way. Anything else can call the REST API directly.
Any other MCP client
Zed, Warp, Kiro, Gemini CLI, v0 and any other MCP client connect with one URL.
